University Rogaining Championships 2011

*** Sponsorship available for one Qld university team ***

You don't have to have much experience in rogaining. The only requirement is that all of your team members need to be studying at the same university, and preference is given to full time undergraduate students. Get your name in to us now!

The 2011 University Rogaining Championships are in WA!

13-14th August

The 2011 University Rogaining Championships will be held in conjunction with the Western Australia Rogaining Championships on the 13-14th August. It promises to be a great event 80 km southeast of Perth in gently rolling, moderately open bushland. The map will be standard ARA issue - A3, 1:50,000 scale and 5 m contours.

Each year The Nigel Aylott Memorial Sports Foundation (NAMSF) supports university students to enter the event. NAMSF will provide $1,100 towards travel expenses for one Qld team and also with cover the entry cost for all full-time university students. NAMSF was set up in memory of Nigel a keen adventure racer and rogainer, to encourage engagement in these outdoor sports. Nigel was who was killed by a rock-fall in September 2004 during the Subaru Primal Quest adventure race in Washington State USA. He also won the Red Roo Rogaine, the 2000 Australian Championships held in WA.

The event is open to all university students, so grab a uni mate and give it a go. It would be great if Qld could have a few teams head over! A challenge the other states.

If you are a university student (full-time, part-time, undergraduate or post-graduate) and are keen to enter the event, you are eligible to apply for the grant to have your travel expenses and entry paid for! To apply, please send in an email with your proposed team details, including university and student status, to paulguard@gmail.com by 8th June 2011. If more than one team applies for the subsidy, the 12 hour rogaine on 11th June will be the qualification event.
