The Queensland Rogaine Association is excited to announce an all new multisport rogaine on the 2010 calendar. The Rogue8 will pit teams against each other over the traditional adventure racing disciplines of trekking, mountain biking and paddling over an 8 hour time period. The course has been set to provide teams the ultimate freedom in route choice - competitors can choose the number, order and even how much of each stage they wish to tackle.
The flexibility in course options means that the Rogue8 is achievable for competitors of all levels. You're a gun paddler? - well sweep the kayak legs. Just bought a new carbon 29er? - spend the day just riding trails. Have a set of dodgy ankles, can't paddle or don't own a bike? - skip the trek, kayak or bike legs all together. Fancy your nav skills? - nail those tricky big point CPs. Your first adventure race? - stop for lunch at halftime. Racing for top honours? - well, now that is a tricky proposition. One thing for sure is that you'll need to be clever with your route choice, planning and navigation.
Entries are now open, and the organisers are excited about the course potential. Falling two weeks before the Hells Bells 24hr race, this is the perfect chance for adventure racers to get in a bit of tough nav practice. Conversely, the Rogue8 is a great chance for rogainers to experience the highs and lows of adventure racing. Further information can be found in the attached document.
